Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 13 May 2018
One of the many things I love about curating, producing and publishing our Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase is it offers me the facility to tap into these talented artists lives. Many of the artists that we profile each Sunday morning are extraordinarily prolific with their art and when viewing the showcase, each image doesn’t stand on its own, more so as together, context is all. The more you move among the pictures, shifting back and forrth, the more your sense of mobile photography and art deepens, expanding by the moment. All of these image take their part in a growing narrative, one we continue to explore. Enjoy!…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 6 May 2018
Today, it’s World Laughter Day and I’ve already started… There is too much tension in our nation, our stress levels are too high, none of us are getting out of here alive, relax… When we join with others in laughter, we know how good we feel, remember? It creates social bonds, as we recognise that we’re are experiencing similar emotions, simultaneously. The therapeutic effects of laughter have been clinically studied since the 70s, but Dr Madan Kataria – who developed laughter yoga in Mumbai – is credited with bringing laughter therapy into the mainstream. Kataria set up the first laughter club in 1995. There are now more than 5,000 laughter…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 29 April 2018
It has been said (‘Teenagers: A Natural History’: David Bainbridge, 2010) that teenage years are to develop the brain and as such they are the greatest achievement of evolution – the point where all that is special about our species comes into play. For parents of teenagers, it’s our job to look after them while they are incubating their extraordinary craniums. “Adolescence is the reason we live so long, long, long,” says Bainbridge. “Human longevity has evolved because we need to bring up our intensely supported, slowly developing offspring.” And that’s of course intensely important, being a parent at this stage is a constant negotiation between keeping them safe and…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 15 April 2018
Urgently contemporary, this weeks mobile photography and art flickr group showcase is a huge thrill and I know all about thrills. This week I chatted with a friend, one I’ve not seen for such a long time. The most charming man, the most fragrant and also the most generous. Slipping back into rambling conversations about, art, photography and sex, we absorbed and absolved one another as we nudged the English language to its limits. Art as in life, is about desire and the mobile photographers and artists that we have featured in this weeks showcase, have satiated mine. There’s real humanity in this showcase, with insights into love and longing…

We have a choice, to give ourselves permission to go where ever our thoughts take us and when we do that, we can feel the incredibly rush of creativity and excitement this exists within all of us. I am not one to read lonely hearts ad’s per se, however I do love history and found myself pre Valentine’s wondering when the first lonely hearts ad may have been written. I think I found it, in 1695 a ‘gentleman about 30 years of age’ placed at least one of the first recorded lonely hearts ad’s and he was seeking ‘some good young gentlewoman that has a Fortune of 3000 l. or thereabout’. £3k is equal to around £260k ($340k) today. This chap had his eyes set on more than love it’s plain to see, no second guessing needed with this guy… I turn again and again to ‘The…
