Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 12 August 2018
Part modern mystery, part romantic classic, this weeks Flickr Group Showcase, splices enough finite drama into 3.5 minutes to validate mobile photography and art to full-scale provenance. If you would like your work to be considered for entry in to our weekly Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group, please submit it to our dedicated group, here. Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 5 August 2018
Photographer, Mary McCartney (Paul’s daughter), with whom I used to work at a London photo agency said, “I’m embarrassed to say that my main camera is my iPhone”. That’s not to say she doesn’t use 35 mm film, a Leica in fact, or a DSLR, even a Polaroid, but what she loves about her iPhone is ‘how immediate it is‘. Contrasing with Grayson Perry, artist confession, ‘the cameraphone has made the forest of glowing screens ubiquitous in museums, galleries and at events. Maybe I’m a snob, but it’s put me off photography’. We take thousands and thousands of pictures, every single day, do we treasure them? Some we do, each represents…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 29 July 2018
Just as a tailor sews secret messages into garments, the wise will know that everything that I do always has more than one purpose, reason and meaning. There’s not one interview, article or showcase that doesn’t reflect this throughout TheAppWhisperer. My mind works in a multitasking constant, when viewing each Mobile Photography Showcase, as well as the order of the works, the music serves as a complement and also adds a surrogate meaning, to another event, always directed towards a chic other. And what you’ll notice from the swooning imagery in this weeks showcase, is a oedipal gothic romance, layered and layered with depth. It’s a tale of young cherished…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 15 July 2018
‘How to fail’ is a podcast series by journalist and novelist Elizabeth Day, whereupon she interviews celebrities and asks them to list three examples, demonstrating their failures in life. Perhaps, not surprisingly, men somewhat balked at the idea that they’d failed at anything and when pressed, admitted to losing tennis matches, or the inability to get souffles to rise, whereas women confessed they had trouble limiting the list to just three failures. Naturally, my thoughts drifted to my own failures, where to start… trying too hard to find love as a teenager complete with ‘mistakes’…, not selling my first cottage before the property crash in 1990 when I was 21,…

Mobile Photography & Art – Portrait of an Artist – Seeing Through The Eyes Of Clint Cline
We are delighted to bring to you the sixth in our brand new series of interviews within our Portrait of an Artist column entitled ‘Seeing through the eyes…’. This is a section that has been created by our wonderful Portrait of an Artist Editor, Ile Mont. Mont has been inspired by the life and works of Carolyn Hall Young, as so many of us have. Young was the main contributor to our Portrait of an Artist Flickr pool and filled it with portraits of so many wonderful people, not only of herself. It is for this reason that Mont wanted to create this section, to enable us to view the…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 17 June 2018
Mobile Art and its artists need their audience, this showcase manifests with my welcoming spirit, embodying feelings with a kind of jovial gratitude and there’s a reason for that. This is an elegant, charming and poetically simple showcase within its means and methods. The opening image should stop you in its tracks and the rest will take you on a journey, clearly without rudimentary structure. It is figuratively tied together with pure arte povera, in the sense of art, without the restraints of traditional practices and materials. Deep within its core, hear the screams of belief in the democratic mutuality of art. The metaphor is overwhelming. Thank you to all…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 10 June 2018
“Happily ever after is a very relative thing. I’m grateful that I get to be alive”, this is one of the many excerpts from the deepest conversations I had for many years, with our mutual friend, dear Carolyn Hall Young. I miss her immensely, everyday and everyone I’ve ever spoken to, who has known her, has the same feelings. Why is it that some people make such an impact on our lives, out of the thousands and thousands that we know now or will know, what is it, that pushes them into our hearts and keeps them there? There are many answers to this complex question and I would say…

This weeks Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase is a love letter, not only to each artist but instinctively to the centrality of art and culture within each of our lives. It’s wholly satisfying, with the trajectory of relationships like lovers, talking themselves in and out of our beds. Light that post-coital cigarette and enjoy! Thank you to all artists for submitting your works. If you would like your work to be considered for entry in to our weekly Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group, please submit it to our dedicated group, here. Visualising Mobile Photography Interview with Kate Zari Roberts
I am so excited about this new Interview section within TheAppWhisperer. A picture speaks a thousand words, so says the English language idiom and as this is a website by and for visual artists, we felt this section was long overdue. We asked a series of mobile photographers and artists ten questions, in text format and we asked them to respond in their very best way, visually and in their own style of photography/art, the results are unique and incredibly exciting. To read our previously published interviews, with Deborah McMillion, M. Cecilia Sao Thiago, Christine Sobczak, Liliana Schwitter, Armineh Hovanesian, Lorenka Campos, Donna Donato, Eliza Badoiu, Juta Jazz and Susan…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 4 March 2018
I’ve been really excited this week because I have created a new interview platform within TheAppWhisperer that allows artists to answer the textual questions we ask, visually and the results have been spectacular. I have wanted to do this for sometime. As I explained elsewhere on the internet, my thought processes behind this format of interview are based on not only my life experiences but also on some of my professional qualifications. I have been surrounded my entire life by people who find communicating in a neurotypical way, difficult. I believe and have always believed that the onus is on the person trying to interpret what is being communicated, to…
