For the past week Mimi Svanberg @imagomimago, has been publishing three of her images each day to our Instagram feed and it’s been captivating. When viewing this body of work (which you can view in full in our Instagram feed, @theappwhisperer), I’ve felt a vulnerableness in Svanberg’s visual language, there’s a tactility in this body of work, illuminating the view, that time is in flux. Each image may suspend one moment but that’s the illusion. Her photos lose their boundaries, becoming a continuation of ritualised awareness. This weeks Saturday Poetry, matched with mobile photography/art is entitled ‘’The Nude’ by Yi Lei. ‘A leading figure in contemporary Chinese poetry, Yi Lei was born Sun Gui-zhen in Tianjin, China, in 1951. She studied creative writing at the Lu Xun Academy and received a BA in Chinese literature from Peking University. Yi Lei published eight poetry collections, and her work has been translated into Japanese, French, Italian, Russian, and English, notably by U. S. Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith. She also worked as a reporter for the Liberation Army and a staff member of the newspaper The Railway Corps. In 1991, she moved to Moscow, where she lived and wrote for…

Instagram TAKEOVER with Elaine Taylor (@sunflowerof21) – Days 4 – 7
Last week we started the second of our brand new format to our Instagram TakeOver’s with Elaine Taylor @sunflowerof21 (our first week was with Clay Benskin – @clay_benskin) and Taylor has also performed this task impeccably. She agreed to publish three of her stunning mobile photography images per day and we have featured days 4 – 7 below. There’s a constant theme running through Taylors work, equal parts, playful and transparent. She documents the metaphorical and physical closeness of her family relationships.
