Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Showcase – 15 April 2017

      2017-04-16 / 2 Comments

“Mercy is radical kindness. Mercy means offering or being offered aid in desperate straits. Mercy is not deserved. It involves forgiving the debt, absolving the unabsolvable. Mercy brings us to the miracle of apology, given and accepted, to unashamed humility when we have erred or forgotten”. This is a quotation from a new book I have been reading this week by Anne Lamott. I have several of her books and enjoy reading them over and over, this one entitled ‘Hallelujah Anyway’, is just perfect for Easter Day and for our Mobile Photography & Art showcase. You see, mobile imagery is created by some of the most wonderful artists, living today,…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 25 September 2016

When I was a young girl, one of my great pleasures was creating plays with my best girlfriend. When I say ‘plays’, perhaps they would be better described as audio recordings, on cassette tape, like a radio show. Rachel and I would spend hours on the scripts and each take on multiple roles within the same recording. It was not just due to economic necessity that we each played multiple parts, it was also hugely fun. These plays were complex and sophisticated and allowed us to express all the emotions we had building inside us, from outside sources.  With today’s technology, it’s so much easier to turn turn narration into…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 24 April 2016

2016-04-24 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 24 April 2016

As I crashed spectacularly to the ground from my mountain bike early this morning, I was reminded of a dear friend talking to me about resilience. Not that I need reminding, I have met with enough adversity in my life to know that this is a psychological trait buried deeply into my psyche. There was nothing to do, I picked myself back up, swung my leg over the cross-bar, dropped a few gears and I pushed myself up the climb, I stood over my bike and I powered up that hill. The word ‘resilience’ derives from the Latin for ‘to jump again’.  Mobile Photography and Art requires resilience, there is…

2016-02-27 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography – Portrait of an Artist – New Editors and Fifteenth Video Showcase!

We are delighted to announce two new editors will be joining us here at TheAppWhisperer to assist with our Portrait of an Artist popular mobile portraiture group. Jennifer Bracewell is currently taking a temporary break and we are very pleased to welcome Michelle Robinson and Ile Mont as co-editors. The door is held widely open for Jennifer’s return, whenever that may be and we look forward to her joining this fabulous team! Robinson and Mont are both highly talented mobile portraiture artists themselves and are hugely supportive of this medium. Our Portrait of an Artist Column will continue along the theme that we have always had, with artists uploading their…

This is an unapologetic portrayal of mobile photography and art.  This showcase pluses with fierce and almost feral energy. Each image not only tells a story but bears witness. I have curated and placed each image with great care, this is ruthless love. If you would like to view our previous Flickr Group Showcases (please go here). Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 13 December 2015

2015-12-13 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 13 December 2015

You may have realised by now that these weekly mobile photography and art Flickr Group Showcases are an expression of love, passion, seduction and heat but also they portray emotions that we sometimes try to suppress, guilt, addiction, shame and anger. What’s the difference between guilt and shame, you may well ask. Guilt is about your behaviour and shame is about who you are, according to more one than source. These showcases above all represent growth, we all pass through passages and stages of life but the question is, can we keep growing? Or will we get stuck somewhere? I am not qualitifed for you to open your psyche to…

“Until I can read a story physically, with the eyes, it doesn’t seem to exist for me”, said Edward P Jones, novelist of three works of fiction. I feel like this when I view your images, I curate and create a story with them physically, for you all to view and to read.  Each Sunday when I create these showcases, I substitute literature (of which I am hugely fond of) for your art. Your art fills the pages as a stage without words or letters but with deep meaning, in many ways it offers nurturance, empathy, support and connection – thank you all. If you would like your work to…
