New Projects – Our New Form of Artistic Installation aka ‘The Quilt’ Is Ready!
We’re delighted to inform our readers that the quilt that so many of you contributed to, has now been completed. For those of you not aware of this project, it involved mobile artists contributing one image and each one was then carefully included within a large quilt to be displayed at the next gallery show or even Mobile Arts Festival. There has been a few obstacles along the way and we have overcome each one. This quilt was sewed together and finalised by none other than mobile artist, Lorenka Campos’ mother in law. There’s not one interview, article or showcase that doesn’t reflect this throughout TheAppWhisperer. We’re delighted to reveal that the Mobile Photography Awards (MPA) 2017 Results have now been announced. As always we (I speak as a member of the Jury) were succumbed by the wealth of talent displayed across our screens. In the UK we have a literary award of which, it is of no honour to win. It is the Bad Sex Award and each year since 1993 an author is honoured who has, in the opinion of the judges, produced an outstandingly bad scene of sexual description, in an otherwise good novel. As I created this weeks Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group showcase, Orfeo et Eurydice: Melodie for Piano Solo performed by James Rhodes played and soothed me, this beautiful rendition will likely reduce you to tears. Rhodes is a highly accomplished concert pianist and a man whose personal memoir is so raw and harrowing that the court of appeal initially prevented him from publishing it, the ban was lifted and his book ‘Instrumental: A Memoir of Madness, Medication and Music‘ which includes a Spotify playlist, is a heartbreakingly difficult read.
