Mobile Photography & Art Showcase – 6 June 2021

“Mercy is radical kindness. Mercy means offering or being offered aid in desperate straits. Mercy is not deserved. It involves forgiving the debt, absolving the unabsolvable. Mercy brings us to the miracle of apology, given and accepted, to unashamed humility when we have erred or forgotten”. As said by Ann Lamott in her book, ‘Hallelujah Anyway’. I read it sometime ago but I keep a few of my favourite books close by to pick up for inspiration now and again. Fortunately because of the world I live in, I constantly view the most incredible mobile imagery by some of the most wonderful artists, living today. So many of these artists cast doubts upon their talents and they should not. Whenever I am lucky enough to talk with artists in person, I feel it. The most important thing and I say it time after time, is to believe in yourself, in your abilities and to be kind to yourself. Life, this life, is not a competition. It’s not about winning the next one, or being in the next exhibition, it’s nice when it happens, if you want it to but don’t focus on that. Most of the time, as least I find, the most amazing things happen to me, when I least expect it, or push for it. Have mercy on yourself and let your talents shine through.  I see your work, whether I’m representing a competition or not, I will see your work, keep going, do not stop but rest and take a break when you need to. Keep paying attention and feed your soul because you feed mine in turn.
