Today, we are publishing our nineteenth visual interview, this time with Christine Mignon from Vienna, Austria. Mignon absorbs not just the streets but humans in nature too, alchemizing them into mesmerising and intricately constructed mobile images. As a photographer she nudges mobile photography to its limits, as an artist she is uncannily commanding. Sometimes when curating and putting together our mobile photography and art showcase, as I work long hours, tiredness creeps in and it’s at those times when semi consciousness takes over and the real creativity happens. I think this is the case for many artists, creativity can not be turned on and off with the flick of switch, sometimes it takes a while for it to start building and smouldering and as the heat builds and builds it becomes the all encompassing climax of our vigorous lives. I’ve been really excited this week because I have created a new interview platform within TheAppWhisperer that allows artists to answer the textual questions we ask, visually and the results have been spectacular. I have wanted to do this for sometime. I am not one to read lonely hearts ad’s per se, however I do love history and found myself pre Valentine’s wondering when the first lonely hearts ad may have been written. I think I found it, in 1695 a ‘gentleman about 30 years of age’ placed at least one of the first recorded lonely hearts ad’s and he was seeking ‘some good young gentlewoman that has a Fortune of 3000 l. or thereabout’. £3k is equal to around £260k ($340k) today. Within each artists work there is a freedom of obligations, freedom of inevitability, each work has been constructed to elicit entirely what was desired. The liberation that comes from creating fast and loose whilst being observed is perfectly canny.
