New Projects – Our New Form of Artistic Installation aka ‘The Quilt’ Is Ready!
We’re delighted to inform our readers that the quilt that so many of you contributed to, has now been completed. For those of you not aware of this project, it involved mobile artists contributing one image and each one was then carefully included within a large quilt to be displayed at the next gallery show or even Mobile Arts Festival. There has been a few obstacles along the way and we have overcome each one. This quilt was sewed together and finalised by none other than mobile artist, Lorenka Campos’ mother in law. We all owe her much gratitude. The quilt is now with Lorenka Campos, so if you would…

New Mobile Photography Workshop – With Meri Walker and Annie Helmsworth in Alaska!
I am delighted to announce a fabulous new mobile photography workshop hosted by Meri Walker and Annie Helmsworth. Over the past two years, sharing their passion for iPhone photography in social media both Meri Walker (aka iPhoneArtGirl) and Annie Helmsworth (aka Elfin Kennel), developed a deep connection. With Meri living in southern Oregon and Anne in rural Alaska last summer they joked back and forth about Meri hitchhiking to the North Pole Alaska to see Anne and her mushing team, this set the wheels in motion and the two mobile photographers began exploring in earnest for a way to meet (and possibly teach together) in person. The Alaska Folk School,…

Streets Ahead – Challenge 3 – Showcase
Welcome to the showcase for our third challenge, ‘Layering’ (the use of reflections – in a building’s glass, a puddle or another shiny object.). The objective of these challenges is to help us collectively practice and perhaps learn some new techniques. Each challenge will be based either on a shooting technique or perhaps a theme. We would like Streets Ahead to be an interactive group, and for members to try to participate in the challenges. If you are a woman street photographer, please join our growing community. With many congratulations to Anne-Martine Parent, Annie Helmsworth, Armineh Hovanisan, Cecily Batey Caceu, Connie Rosenthal, Dani Salvadori, Donna Donato, Em Kachouro, Gina Costa, Jamie Glasser,…

In addition to creating a showcase video which features a sampling of submitted work, we also highlight a few images that caught our attention… offering some thoughtful commentary about technique, composition, and subject matter. If you are not a member of our Facebook group… we highly recommend that you join us! This is our space for sharing newsworthy information and conducting discussions (what, when, where, why and how) about Women Photographers/Artists and Street Photography, in general. So, if…

Streets Ahead – Thirty Second Edition – Mobile Street Photography
Welcome to the 32nd edition of “Streets Ahead.” My Goodness, it’s hard to believe that we’re now in our 30’s! It’s also hard to believe that we’re already a few months into 2014. Yep. March is now upon us. However, as I’m sitting here writing this, I have a huge smile on my face that I can’t erase. For no other reason than March is “Women’s History Month.” Personally, I think that every day should be “Woman”s Day”… but I know that ain’t happening anytime soon. I am, however, grateful that this is the month where we become conscious and aware of all the wonderful and brilliant contributions women make…

Mobile Movies Showcase – Week 20 – By Donna Donato
Welcome back to the twentieth article in the Column, Mobile Movies. We at TheAppWhisperer have been inspired by the Flickr upgrade of 1 Terabyte of storage for everyone and have wanted to launch a mobile movie section for some time. Each week I (you can find me on Flickr here) will curate the movie uploads to our new Flickr group –MobileMoviesTheAppWhisperer – I will view all the videos uploaded and comment on the chosen ones. ”The…
