Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 25 November 2018
“I knew how tight everything was, especially the loss of twenty minutes and I asked the Queen if she would remove the tiara. (I used the word ‘crown’, which was a faux pas). I suggested that a less dressy look might be better. And she said ‘Less dressy!’ What do you think this is?”. A quote from a book that I have been carrying around all week, sent to me personally by my dear colleague at the publishers, Phaidon. ‘Annie Leibovitz At Work’ is a revised and updated edition of the original book of 2008 and I just adore it. It offers more than a glimpse behind the scenes of…

Mobile Photography & Art – Happy Thanksgiving Post…
Happy Thanksgiving! We’re reviving and in some cases refreshing our mobile photography and art thanksgiving post of last year because it’s as relevant today as it was then. Although we do not officially observe Thanksgiving here in the UK, for me personally, it gives me another excuse to send love and gratitude to our beautiful community. Without your art, your thoughts and your daily leaps of courageous self-expression, TheAppWhisperer would not exist. This week, I was in a prominent board meeting, seated around a table of five Directors of said company I was invited to. I was discussing your work and TheAppWhisperer. At the end of the meeting, one Director…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 11 November 2018
‘Why Women Have Better Sex Under Socialism‘ what perfect timing, if you pardon the pun. Kristen R Ghodsee has published a thoroughly researched exploration proclaiming that capitalism is bad for women. She argues, adopting some ideas from socialism ‘women will have better lives’ and of course, this includes sex. Ghodsee, an acclaimed ethnographer and professor of Russian and East European Studies, spent years researching what happened to women in countries that transitioned from state socialism to capitalism. In this book, she analysed many facets of a woman’s life – work, parenting, sex and relationships, community and authority. One chapter, entitled “Women: Like Men, But Cheaper,” she discusses women in the…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 28 October 2018
Life is an enactment, art the outward manifestation of the scenes performed on an inner stage and no greater is this portrayal witnessed than in this weeks Mobile Photography and Art Showcase. Consciously desexed, I am somewhat a phenomenolgist as I curate each week. Infilitrating the discrepancies between reasoning and imagination, demanding the subjectivity of the objectiveness of each work of art, I invite all viewers to experience the anteriority of mobile art; the power, the strength and the hauntingly honesty of this new movement of art. As Emily Dickinson, whom I have been reading this week, knew, the truth that underlies all art is an apocalyptic yearning for ecstasy,…

New Projects – Our New Form of Artistic Installation aka ‘The Quilt’ Is Ready!
We’re delighted to inform our readers that the quilt that so many of you contributed to, has now been completed. For those of you not aware of this project, it involved mobile artists contributing one image and each one was then carefully included within a large quilt to be displayed at the next gallery show or even Mobile Arts Festival. There has been a few obstacles along the way and we have overcome each one. This quilt was sewed together and finalised by none other than mobile artist, Lorenka Campos’ mother in law. We all owe her much gratitude. The quilt is now with Lorenka Campos, so if you would…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 9 September 2018
Mobile Photography and Art, to me, is about, among other things, interconnectedness of our lives, about what we choose to see and ignore as we move through our own worlds, about the power of small acts of decency. Our shared vision is so vivid and multilayered enabling what we produce to become something more than remarkable. The real joy in this weeks Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group Showcase, is the relentlessly compelling and extraordinary portrayal of lasting beauty. I have tried to create an atmosphere offering privileged access into multiple spheres of existence, discovering the secret languages of each work of art, conferring dignity and consequence with each image…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 29 July 2018
Just as a tailor sews secret messages into garments, the wise will know that everything that I do always has more than one purpose, reason and meaning. There’s not one interview, article or showcase that doesn’t reflect this throughout TheAppWhisperer. My mind works in a multitasking constant, when viewing each Mobile Photography Showcase, as well as the order of the works, the music serves as a complement and also adds a surrogate meaning, to another event, always directed towards a chic other. And what you’ll notice from the swooning imagery in this weeks showcase, is a oedipal gothic romance, layered and layered with depth. It’s a tale of young cherished…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 22 July 2018
This weeks Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group Showcase is beautifully variegated with each image, slowly dissolving into the next. But this is no means a dillydally, this is sumptuous art that has been carefully created throughout the week. This art is bound by love, my love, “Love is the emblem of eternity; it confounds all notion of time; effaces all memory of a beginning, all fear of an end”, wrote the Swiss author Madame de Staël (1766-1817). Enjoy! Thank you to all artists for submitting your works. If you would like your work to be considered for entry in to our weekly Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group, please…
