Thirty years ago Donna Tart’s Ancient History was published, a book that she wrote for a period of eight years. It’s a book I constantly reread, it’s inspired by my love of Greek mythology. Told in Dickensian detail “I just thought I was writing an old-fashioned, very bizarre book that was to no one’s taste except my own. I was writing it for myself and my friends,” Tartt expressed. The Open competition is where all mobile photographs should be submitted. It is normally free to enter 3 images per photographer but we are giving each of you, however many thousands of you there are, 20 additional free entries. It is interesting when you think about ‘selfies’, the word of the year adopted by the Oxford Dictionary in 2013. From the early days of photography, photographers have taken photographs of themselves. Hippolytee Bayard, created photography’s first self portrait in 1840. He actually portrayed himself as a drowned man. It is said he created this image in response to what he interpreted as a waste of his extensive research when the French government overlooked his efforts in preference of Daguerre’s process. Update on Award Winning Mobile Photographer – iPhoneArtGirl – Meri Walker – Fire Razes Home in Oregon, United States
Thank you to all who have offered a donation to Award Winning Mobile Photographer – @iPhoneArtGirl – Meri Walker’s fund to enable her to start rebuilding her life after her entire home was razed to the ground in Oregon a few days ago. The fund is now at $13,731 (at the time of writing). We are hoping to raise $50,000, please contribute if you can.
