Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 24 June 2018
To many artists in this weeks Mobile Photography & Art Showcase, and beyond, mobile art is a coping mechanism. Creating art allows us to live alternative lives, whether for ourselves or for our subjects. This weeks showcase should be recognised as own emblem, forever moving forward whilst simultaneously sensing time’s passage, evidence that is cognizant in our art. Dorothea Lange said it best with “A camera is a tool, for learning how to see without a camera“. This week we share a brilliantly delineated context of imagination whilst recognising among the first avant garde artists of the mobile camera. Enjoy! Thank you to all artists for submitting your works. If…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 17 June 2018
Mobile Art and its artists need their audience, this showcase manifests with my welcoming spirit, embodying feelings with a kind of jovial gratitude and there’s a reason for that. This is an elegant, charming and poetically simple showcase within its means and methods. The opening image should stop you in its tracks and the rest will take you on a journey, clearly without rudimentary structure. It is figuratively tied together with pure arte povera, in the sense of art, without the restraints of traditional practices and materials. Deep within its core, hear the screams of belief in the democratic mutuality of art. The metaphor is overwhelming. Thank you to all…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 10 June 2018
“Happily ever after is a very relative thing. I’m grateful that I get to be alive”, this is one of the many excerpts from the deepest conversations I had for many years, with our mutual friend, dear Carolyn Hall Young. I miss her immensely, everyday and everyone I’ve ever spoken to, who has known her, has the same feelings. Why is it that some people make such an impact on our lives, out of the thousands and thousands that we know now or will know, what is it, that pushes them into our hearts and keeps them there? There are many answers to this complex question and I would say…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 13 May 2018
One of the many things I love about curating, producing and publishing our Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase is it offers me the facility to tap into these talented artists lives. Many of the artists that we profile each Sunday morning are extraordinarily prolific with their art and when viewing the showcase, each image doesn’t stand on its own, more so as together, context is all. The more you move among the pictures, shifting back and forrth, the more your sense of mobile photography and art deepens, expanding by the moment. All of these image take their part in a growing narrative, one we continue to explore. Enjoy!…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr Group Showcase – 15 April 2018
Urgently contemporary, this weeks mobile photography and art flickr group showcase is a huge thrill and I know all about thrills. This week I chatted with a friend, one I’ve not seen for such a long time. The most charming man, the most fragrant and also the most generous. Slipping back into rambling conversations about, art, photography and sex, we absorbed and absolved one another as we nudged the English language to its limits. Art as in life, is about desire and the mobile photographers and artists that we have featured in this weeks showcase, have satiated mine. There’s real humanity in this showcase, with insights into love and longing…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 10 March 2018
Sometimes when curating and putting together our mobile photography and art showcase, as I work long hours, tiredness creeps in and it’s at those times when semi consciousness takes over and the real creativity happens. I think this is the case for many artists, creativity can not be turned on and off with the flick of switch, sometimes it takes a while for it to start building and smouldering and as the heat builds and builds it becomes the all encompassing climax of our vigorous lives. There is much talent in this showcase, matched with fierce, compassionate and revelatory art. Enjoy this piercingly tender film, it’s one that will make…
