Mobile Photography & Art Flickr and Instagram Showcase – 7 March 2021

Reminiscing about touch… can you recall when you last touched someone that does not live with you? I can, it was when the brunette and I were in ‘our’ secretive riverside café eating home-made cakes and drinking freshly brewed cappuccinos. Chocolate cake for the chocoholic and carrot cake for myself. The staff are also the owners of this café and a mutual embrace is the norm for their regulars. It leaves an inner glow that lasts long after the visit is over, usually into the following week for me. But like all ‘non essential’ businesses in this pandemic, it has been closed for a year now. This is resulting in ‘skin hunger’ for many, it is a term deemed by psychologists. It means that it leaves feelings of deprivation and abandonment. Of course, it is not just an issue devoted to the UK, if I had been able to cross the channel to France, I would be missing the cheek kisses that are shared so freely too.

During this lockdown, some people have turned to or increased their intake of anti-depressants and I actually think that is something to be proud of. Too many people look down at their feet when these drugs are mentioned but if they help stabilise and let you sleep at night, know when you’re awake, to feel the sun on your face, well that is a positive thing and no one needs another guilt trip to deal with what we are all enduring. For us here at TheAppWhisperer h.q., we have always scoured for ways to bring our community into closer contact with one another.  To metaphorically feel those warm embraces within our community.  One way that has received immense positive feedback this past week, has been with our podcasts. We have only recently started them again in earnest and for me personally, it is wonderful to physically talk with mobile artists about their work and to share these talks with our listeners. Our podcasts are open-hearted and honest and allowing our audience to be part of the journey.  We offer behind the scenes access, if you will, to many of the most talented mobile artists in the world. Our podcasts are generous, we create a secure environment for great conversations with talented individuals who trust one another. They are less scripted than a formal written interview and each one is as individual at the artist we speak to. We have many more to come, if you have not listened to them yet, please head over to our Apple Podcast channel and if you do enjoy them, please leave a positive review, it will be really greatly appreciated. For now, sit back and enjoy this weeks Mobile Photography and Art Showcase…

Thank you to all the talented artists for submitting your works to our showcase this week. If you would like your work to be considered for entry in to our weekly Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group, please submit it to our dedicated group, here. You can also submit images to our Instagram tag for this section #theappwhisperer.

Joanne Carter, creator of the world’s most popular mobile photography and art website— TheAppWhisperer.com— TheAppWhisperer platform has been a pivotal cyberspace for mobile artists of all abilities to learn about, to explore, to celebrate and to share mobile artworks. Joanne’s compassion, inclusivity, and humility are hallmarks in all that she does, and is particularly evident in the platform she has built. The online gallery specialises in prints for discerning collectors of unique, previously unseen signed limited edition art. Her journey towards becoming The App Whisperer, includes (but is not limited to) working for a paparazzi photo agency for several years and as a deputy editor for a photo print magazine.
