Kuster – ‘Old School Editing’ – By Kevin Kuster
We’re really excited to publish the first in a series of five specialist ‘old school’ posts by our Columnist and former Playboy Photo Editor Kevin Kuster, to his Column ‘Kuster‘. I can really relate to Kevin’s article, many years ago I worked at a paparazzi photo agency in London and spent a good deal of my time crouched over a light table with an oversized Nikon loupe, over to you Kevin (foreword by Joanne Carter)… Image © Kevin Kuster Image © Thom King – @say_cheez (Instagram). 20×24 Polaroids © David Levinthal ‘I am not one to dwell on the “good old days” of photography. We’re delighted to publish Kevin Kuster’s latest article for his Kuster Column with us. This time Kevin discusses a very poignant moment in history and having visited these very beaches in France myself and the nearby graveyards too, I know only too well how important it is to remember this day and those that gave their lives. Although, at the moment, I don’t have the book that Kevin described below, I do have this one, and it’s very much cherished. Over to you Kevin… (foreword by Joanne Carter). D Day. Kuster’s Last Stand – ‘Ordinary To Extraordinary’
Recently, due to a few changes in my life and not wanting my son to deal with the inner-city school system, I’ve moved back to the western suburbs of Chicago to the neighborhood where I grew up. While I’m happy for my son, I must admit I find my surroundings very clean, convenient and peaceful. The only problem is that when you add all these adjectives together they add up to only one word…BORING! © Kevin Kuster – ‘BUS STOP’ (Photograph take at school bus parking lot) Although I love living in the suburbs, creatively I feel like I am drowning in a sea of just plain vanilla.…
