I’m very excited about this wonderful competition, the NEM Florence International Photography Awards (FIPA), of which TheAppWhisperer has been very generously given a special section. The theme is ‘Gates of Paradise’ I selected this theme to honour the gilded bronze doors of Florence’s Baptistery of San Giovanni and as inspiration for all mobile artists to create a magnificent work of art; not depicting the literal ‘Gates of Paradise’ but to portray, what the ‘Gates of Paradise’ represent to you. Grand Prize Winners Announced at 2015 Sony World Photography awards,
The Honorary Jury of the world’s largest photography competition today names American photographer John Moore as the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards’ L’Iris d’Or/ Professional Photographer of the Year, amongst other awardees. Chosen from the winners of the awards’ thirteen professional categories, the winning work “Ebola Crisis Overwhelms Liberian Capital” is a hard-hitting series of images that cut to the heart of this human tragedy. Moore, a Senior Staff Photographer and Special Correspondent for Getty Images, and the winning photographs have been universally credited for the early exposure of the scale of the Ebola epidemic in Monrovia, the capital of Liberia and the epicentre of the deadly disease. Simon Norfolk – Wins at 2015 Sony World Photography Awards for Landscape
The Honorary Jury of the world’s largest photography competition today names Simon Norfolk as the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards’ Landscape Photographer of the Year. “Norfolk is an incredible photographer and my husband Kevin, has previously interviewed him and featured his work in The Times”. Norfolk, a landscape photographer who lives and works in Brighton and is represented by INSTITUTE, was selected from over 87,000 entries to the Professional competition for a series called “When I Am Laid In Earth”. MIRA Mobile Prize 2015 – Exhibition of 50 Shortlisted Photographs – 18 April – 13 June Mira Forum Gallery – Portugal
It is so wonderful to see the images from the opening event of the MIRA Mobile Prize 2015, of which I was very proudly a Jury member. Manuela Matos Monteiro put on the most wonderful show, this is what she had to say; “The day was gorgeous, the exhibition fantastic and a lot of public attend to our exhibition. NEW Mobile Photography/Art Competition – mDAC15 – TheAppWhisperer
I am so excited about this free to enter competition – the Mobile Digital Art and Creativity Summit (mDAC15). The mDAC Summit will feature work of more than 100+ fine artists, illustrators and photographers from all over the world with work exclusively created on iPhones, iPads, Androids and Surface tablets and other mobile devices. This event is sponsored by the Palo Alto Art Center, California, US and hosted by the Mobile Art Academy. 17 June 2015 – Update – I have now juried this part of the fabulous FIPA competition and my decision has been agreed with Andrea Bigiarini – the announcement will take place tomorrow the 18 June 2015 at 6 PM – CEST – that’s 5 pm London Time, 12 noon New York Time. Dilshad Corleone will read out the speech that I have prepared for the presentation of the Gates of Paradise Award as I cannot attend in person. Environmental Photographer of the Year 2015 – Last chance to enter!
The Atkins CIWEM Environmental Photographer of the Year competition is an international showcase for the very best in environmental photography and film. The competition is free to enter and offers an exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society and a total prize money of £8,000, including awards for young photographers, film and a solo show. Open, Youth and Mobile Phone winners revealed for 2015 Sony World Photography Awards, the world’s biggest photography competition
The Open and Youth winners along with the inaugural Mobile Phone winner of the world’s biggest photography competition, the Sony World Photography Awards, are announced today. Drawn from the four corners of the world and covering a huge range of subjects, the winning Open, Youth and Mobile Phone photographers were chosen from over 96,000 entries to the 2015 SonyWorld Photography Awards.
