Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 27 March 2016
Lately, I have been thinking about love, what it means, how we must face our fears in order to enjoy it and the costs of not doing so. Psychologists tell us that love doesn’t have to be complicated and yet, it is. The quote below, I think sums it up very well. “Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides, you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 6 March 2016
“If you are making art”, says a character in a novel by Peter Carey that I am reading, “the labour never ends, no peace, no Sabbath, just eternal churning and cursing and worrying and fretting”. This weeks mobile photography and art flickr group showcase is somewhat on a par with the above quote and also, at least for me, with the art of making love. There’s grand passion, enchantment, trust, divinity and persistence. As this stunning art, appears on your screen, make space in your heart and mind to feel the power of the incredible creativity. This is after all, a real love story. Enjoy! If you would like your…

Mobile Photography / Art – Saturday Poetry – ‘Spring Time’ by Harper Lee
Harper Lee died yesterday at the age of 89, she was of course, the famous author of To Kill a Mockingbird. Her story of race relations and legal injustice set in the American south in the 1930s, first published in 1960, won the Pulitzer prize for fiction in 1961, was made into an Oscar-winning film in 1962 and went on to sell more than 40m copies worldwide. It has never been out of print and is perhaps the most widely loved American novel of the past half-century. The book was seen by many as saying something good, something important about America itself. Not many people know but can probably imagine…

There’s a constant shift of stylistic attitude, it is both instinctive and cerebral. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I do. If you would like your work to be considered for entry into our weekly Mobile Photography and Art flickr group,…

Mobile Photography / Art New Year Resolutions 2016 From Around The World
New Year Resolutions have a long history, the Babylonians pledged to return borrowed objects and repay their debts at the start of each year, while the Romans kicked off January by making a vow to the god Janus (from whom the month takes its name). As we have been repeating and updating this featured article now for several years, many artists have looked back and lamented at their broken promises but also as you read, you will see that many rejoice at the acomplishments that they have achieved. In assessing my goals for the New Year, I don’t list tasks, I analyze the optimal approaches in reaching those goals, breaking…

Mobile Art – APPart – Eighth Flickr Group Showcase – TheAppWhisperer
I am delighted to publish our very latest APPart Mobile Art Flickr Group Showcase. Curated by our editor Bobbi McMurry and produced by myself. Over to Bobbi…(foreword by Joanne Carter). “It’s hard to believe we are already to the last AppArt showcase of 2015. I’ve enjoyed being part of this amazing group of artists, it’s been a year of wonderful creativity and growth for so many. Our exposure to each other’s art and commentary serve as a window to the people behind the art, so while many of us are “friends” only on social media, we likely know more about each other than some of our friends in the “real…

Joanne Carter Lecture on Mobile Imagery at DigiFun Art Festival 2015 – Seoul Museum of Art – Part 5
I hope you’re all following the posts relating to my lecture at the Seoul Museum of Art, South Korea on 23 September 2015. If you have missed any, please go here. It was a huge honour for me to be invited by DigiFun Art to participate in the DigiFun Art: Urban Scape Mobile Photography & Art Exhibition and Festival at this most prestigious museum. I divided my two hour+ lecture into sections and I will now run through my fifth group of slides/my notes that I made in Part 5. In this section, as I knew that image collusions are very popular in the Far East, I wanted to…
