Amazon’s Appstore Is Back Up And Running – Only In The US
We’re really pleased that the newly launched Amazon Appstore is back up and running but disappointed that it’s not accessible to UK appers. This is what Amazon had to say about it: "We are launching now in the US, however we are a global business and we will continue to evaluate opportunities to do what’s in the best interest of our customers. At this time we have not announced plans on international launches". Let’s hope things change soon as we know many of our readers are very un’appy about this.

Amazon’s App Store Launches, Then Goes Down
Amazon were in a positive frame of mind last night when they rolled out the long awaited App Store for Android. It was going swell with newbies to the store being rewarded with a free copy of Angry Birds Rio, definitely something to chirp about. However, things have just gone pear shaped and the store is down. It’s probably just a few teething problems and surely nothing to do with Apple’s Lawsuit with the App Store patent – we will see, stand by and we’ll keep you informed… By the way, any apps you have already downloaded to your phone should still be working fine…

Choosing The Right Keywords For Your App
We all know how important keywords are on the internet and Amazon have published a new article to their Amazon Appstore Developer Blog, to help you ensure you understand the process. Keywords are not visible to customers in the Amazon Appstore, instead they are used (in addition to the content in your detail page and the name of your app), by Amazon’s search engine to match products with search phrases on Amazon.com. Keywords can be a maximum of 500 characters per app submission and they must be relevant to the app they’re associated with. Keywords should be separated by a comma and you can submit multiple keywords with your app submission. …

Amazon Appstore DRM Applies To Android Apps Too
If you own a Kindle, you’ve experienced the power of having a Digital Locker and the ability to download your purchased content to just about any device. The notion of “buy once, read anywhere” will now also apply to your Android apps purchased through the Amazon Appstore. Customers who purchase an app will retain an entitlement to their app even if they decide to replace their current Android device and/or purchase new devices, as long as the new devices meet the installation requirements of the app. This provides insurance to customers that their purchased apps will be available for use on all supported devices, even if the customer has uninstalled…

Amazon Launches New Kindle Commercial – ‘Our Screen Is More Readable Than iPad’s’
Amazon have just launched a new TV commercial with a sting in its tail. Despite the rumors that the iPad 2 will have a non-reflective screen, like the Kindle. Amazon want to push on before the iPad 2 is here and this commercial sets the scene. It stresses how you can’t read ebooks in direct sunlight with an iPad – this is very true. Neither can you actually read the blogs from the Kindle store on your Kindle app on your iPad – although that has nothing to do with sunlight – we just thought we would mention it as we have recently gone live as a blog on the…

Kindle More Popular In US Than iPad and iPhone
Now this is an interesting bit of news from MacStories who received information from Market Research firm Book Marketing Ltd, via Gigaom, stating that the eBook of choice in the US is the Kindle and yet in the UK it is either the iPhone or iPad. It has not been made clear in the article whether the iOS user may actually be using the Kindle app on their device, this much was not clear, but there’s no question that in the US the Kindle is king. It’s great news for us of course, as we submitted our blog to the Kindle blog store only a few days ago, check it…

More Information About The Amazon Appstore
Since the official launchof the Amazon Developer Portal, Amazon have received tons of positive feedback regarding the developer registration and app submission process. There are questions still being asked by developers, hopefully, you will find the answers here… Are you required to submit a video along with other multimedia content, such as icons and screenshots?
