Mobile Photography & Art – New ‘Deadpan’ Assignment for our Forthcoming Book ‘Away with Words’
Whilst I am busy completing the seventh and eighth chapter (I apologise, I am a little behind) with our selected images for our previous assignments #ladylike and #belonging, I would like to announce our brand new assignment for the next chapter in our soon to be published book entitled ‘Away with Words’. Our new assignment is ‘Deadpan’. We would like to see your interpretations of this assignment. Deadpan… essentially this genre of photography means devoid of emotion. Its a subject that exists but it seems empty. There’s no happiness and there’s no sorrow. It is honest work. It is detached art. It asks more questions than it offers. I have…

Mobile Photography & Imagery – Eighth Assignment ‘Belonging’ #tawbelonging
Yesterday we published our ‘Ladylike’ chapter for our forthcoming book ‘Away with Words’. If you missed that, please go here to view. Today, we’re extending the contribution date for our latest assignment ‘Belonging’, due to the busy Christmas/holiday period. To take part please send your image(s) to my email address – [email protected] and/or to Instagram with this hashtag #tawbelonging. At the end of each month, we will gather the images that have been contributed and select one for this immersive critique. I will personally write this essay with over 1000 words. Each critique will identify the elements, contextual meaning of these elements, interpretation and conclusion. Each critique will then be…

Assignment – ‘Hope’ – Result and Fifth Essay with M. Cecilia São Thiago for our Forthcoming Book – Away with Words
With four chapters behind us, we are delighted to publish our fifth chapter for our forthcoming book ‘Away with Words’, this will be published early next year. Our assignment for this chapter was ‘Hope’ and we have selected M. Cecilia São Thiago’s image from the selection we were sent, as we feel it epitomises this subject, for our fifth of twelve 1000 word essays, personally written by myself. This non fiction work merges discursive scholarship with what may be construed as personal flights of fancy. That is not to say it will disappoint, moreover I have given myself a far and wide range to delve into photography, literature, art, theory, design…

Our ‘assignment’ for this chapter was ‘Melancholy’ and we have selected Peter Wilkin’s image from the selection we were sent, as we feel it epitomises this subject, for our third of twelve 1000 word essays, personally written by myself. This non fiction work merges discursive scholarship with what may be construed as personal flights of fancy. That is not to say it will disappoint, moreover I have given myself a far and wide range to delve into photography, literature, art, theory, design and music…

Fourth New Assignment Announced ‘Beauty & Awe’ for our Forthcoming Book ‘Away with Words’
In January we announced a brand new Assignment section to TheAppWhisperer offering an opportunity for mobile photographers and artists to enter into a monthly assignment on a subject matter that we have individually crafted. This new section is another ground breaking topic within our community. Like so many of the sections within TheAppWhisperer, this has not been done before, in this way. Photographic images have reflected and shaped culture since the inception of the medium and this is non more so apparent than shown within mobile photography and art. The power of mobile art today is inevitably entangled with the diverse tolerances that cultures have in relation to photographs and…

Assignment – Reflection – Result and First Essay with Rita Colantonio for our Upcoming Book ‘Away with Words’
As the first chapter of our new book ‘Away with Words’ begins to take shape, Rita Colantonio’s work is the perfect conceptual starting point for our series of twelve 1000 word essays personally written by myself. This non fiction work merges discursive scholarship with what may be construed as personal flights of fancy. That’s not to say it will disappoint, moreover I have given myself a far and wide range to delve into photography, literature, art, theory, design and music as I tease out my own offbeat associations and at the same time astutely tune into each mobile photographers key tropes and artfully deconstruct their imagery. I thus begin… What…
