Mobile Photography – StreetWise Showcase – July 2016
“Seeing is not enough; you have to feel what you photograph” Andre Kertesz We were struck by the beauty of all the photos submitted to our StreetWise group from around the world (Italy, Belgium, Spain, France, England, USA, Cuba, Israel, Holland, China etc) – such a wonderful international collaboration of photographer’s work! Thank you so much for participating, posting to our Flickr group, and inspiring us with your photos. We look at all of them with the utmost consideration and it is a very challenging task to choose photos for the showcase from all those that were submitted. A reminder of our group’s intention and guidelines “We believe that it…

Welcome to our Second StreetWise Challenge Showcase – ‘Shadows’. We are thrilled to share it with you! “Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” Elliott Erwitt We hope that you found this to be an inspiring theme – perhaps seeing the streets around you and those that inhabit them in a new way and perhaps from a perspective that you may not have noticed before. Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 22 May 2016
Currently, I am on a personal quest to discover and build my knowledge of human happiness. It is a vast subject and I do not pertain to elude quiet or even loud wisdom on this matter. Reading Matt Haig’s ‘Reasons to Stay Alive’ book has been quite insightful; I read from many different sources each day. We can search and scan for eternal contentment it can become all encompassing and is it really necessary? I agree with Haig when he quotes the perpetually great poet Emily Dickinson, “that it will never come again is what makes life so sweet”. This weeks mobile photography and art flickr group showcase has been…

Mobile Photography – StreetsAhead – Tribute to Arjan van der Horst Challenge Results
This challenge showcase was devoted to our Arjan van der Horst who we tragically lost not so long ago. The challenge was to use the Arjan film (created by the Hipstamatic team in honour of Arjan) to capture images in the way we knew he would from the wonderful images he left us to remember him by. The four images I have selected I feel best capture the spirit and style of our dear friend. With many congratulations and huge thanks to Paula Betlem, FrauLN, Karen Axelrad, Christine Mignon, Gillian Brodie, Giulia Baita, Armineh Hovanesian, Montse Abad, Patricia Januszkiewicz, Ile Mont, Lee Atwell, Heather McAlister, Gina Costa, Marsha Leith, Lila Lile, Cara Gallardo…
