Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 18 December 2016
“Yet in order to do almost anything, you have to act against the gravity of grief. It is heavy, it pulls you down, and you have to make a deliberate effort to overcome it. You have to decide that you won’t fall”. Wise words spoken by Israeli author David Grossman in a recent interview. So many in the world are grieving right now and we have to find ways to cope with this. To creatives, it is through art and this weeks mobile photography and art showcase is filled with brilliant images, a translation of artists emotions, is how I like to understand them. Each image has been created with…

Mobile Photography & Art Flickr Group Showcase – 25 September 2016
When I was a young girl, one of my great pleasures was creating plays with my best girlfriend. When I say ‘plays’, perhaps they would be better described as audio recordings, on cassette tape, like a radio show. Rachel and I would spend hours on the scripts and each take on multiple roles within the same recording. It was not just due to economic necessity that we each played multiple parts, it was also hugely fun. These plays were complex and sophisticated and allowed us to express all the emotions we had building inside us, from outside sources. With today’s technology, it’s so much easier to turn turn narration into…

“There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative. Oop! The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever.” Henri Cartier-Bresson It is incredibly inspiring to view all of the photos submitted to our StreetWise Flickr group from around the world – from stunning night scenes, to dramatic black and whites, to captures filled with color, to photos that touch the heart. Art and health are in-explicitly linked, we know the obvious health benefits and therapeutic advantages of creating physical art with paintings and photography but also it’s linked with literature and medicine. Many will notice ‘the ‘language barrier’ when visiting a doctor. Sometimes your doctor may not understand your condition because you cannot describe it lucidly enough and in turn, your doctor cannot describe the proposed treatment because he cannot explain it squarely to you. Language is integral to medicine, as an art, this means language is integral to our health. Chekhov famously quipped: “Medicine is my lawful wife and literature my mistress; when I get tired of one, I spend…
