Streets Ahead – Thirty Second Edition – Mobile Street Photography
Welcome to the 32nd edition of “Streets Ahead.” My Goodness, it’s hard to believe that we’re now in our 30’s! It’s also hard to believe that we’re already a few months into 2014. Yep. March is now upon us. However, as I’m sitting here writing this, I have a huge smile on my face that I can’t erase. For no other reason than March is “Women’s History Month.” Personally, I think that every day should be “Woman”s Day”… but I know that ain’t happening anytime soon. I am, however, grateful that this is the month where we become conscious and aware of all the wonderful and brilliant contributions women make…

At the end of the still images you will find a video of them altogether – hope you enjoy this. Over to you Laura… (foreword by Joanne Carter). “I came to Vienna for 10 days in January and I am still here since over one month…. so now I am kind of artistically cheating on my beloved Valletta. 🙂 Walking the streets of the city I tried to capture for this column, people engaged…

Streets Ahead Interview: Christine Mignon
This week, the Women’s Mobile Street Photography Collective (Streets Ahead) is pleased and honoured to feature Christine Mignon in our interview segment. I first noticed Christine’s work when she posted some photos on the Hipstamatic page. Her composition and ability to capture moments caught my attention. She has a knack of catching juxtapositions and humorous situations as well as expressive portraits of people on the streets. I find it fascinating that she shoots most of her street shots from the hip without looking through the viewfinder. I highly recommend a visit to Christine’s gallery where you will see some of her other work as well as her street photography. ~ Cara Gallardo Weil Flickr:…

APPart – Art Backgrounds with Mel Harrison
We’re delighted to publish Mel Harrison’s latest article to her Column, APPart. This time Mel laments her art education but questions the style of art teaching and why it can either inhibit or encourage your natural creativity. A great piece to ponder, over to you Mel. (Foreword by Joanne Carter). “My New Years resolution was to start contributing to my column here at The App whisperer on a regular basis. I opened this document in the Pages App and stared at it for a long time. I was getting a bit terse with myself because writing and art is something that usually comes freely to me. Then I…
