Welcome to the twenty eighth edition of “Streets Ahead,” a weekly column dedicated to women mobile street photographers. Sorry that we’ve not been on a regular schedule these past few weeks. However, once the New Year arrives, things should be “back to normal”… and I won’t be holding everyone up again.” I promise. We’ve had many wonderful images submitted to our Flickr group over the past few weeks. But unfortunately, as a result, I could not select only a few for comments. I…

Watts of Love – Philippines Disaster Relief With Kevin Kuster
Our wonderful columnist Kevin Kuster (previously Senior Photo Editor for Playboy magazine) is working with the non-profit @watts_of_love. They distributed 1000 solar LED lights to Ilin Island last February to the poorest of the poor and the effects were life changing. Ilin Island has never had any electricity, running water or medical assistance. The 35,000 islanders have been all but forgotten and struggle to survive every day. They have just received word that much of the Ilin island and its neighboring islands have been crushed by typhoon #hayian and #yolanda. Although they don’t have all details yet, we do know that almost every bamboo hut on Ilin has been completely…
