Camera Comparison – Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia Z, HTC One, Nokia Lumia 920 and iPhone 5
Gizmodo recently published a large smartphone camera test to try to decifer which smartphone, out of the Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia Z, HTC One, Nokia Lumia 920 and iPhone 5 is the ‘best’. They tested them in “four common situations, two in daylight and two in a blacked out corner of the office”. Had we carried out this test ourselves in our own lab with our resident camera reviewer, also BJP contributor and DxO optics reviewer, Kevin Carter, it would have been very different. But, it’s interesting to note the winner that Gizmodo selected was actually for a joint overall place between the HTC One and the Nokia Lumia…

New iPhone 5S Rumored To Have 12-Megapixel Sensor And More…
Tinhte.vn a Vietnamese site that has been reliable in the past with Apple iPhone rumors has mentioned that the new iPhone 5S will come with a 12 megapixel sensor, better low light shooting capabilities as well has HDR shooting and ‘other features’. The information coming out right now is still very scant, but I would well imagine that the sensor will be increased and as well as that a lower aperture for improved low light conditions is quite likely too. If you recall, when the iPhone 4S was announced back in October 2011, the rear camera was increased from 5 megapixels to 8, with improved video capture of 1080p, from…

Through the implementation of advanced eye recognition technology, Smart Video recognizes the position of the viewer’s eyes and automatically plays or stops the video without any manual input from the user. When the viewer’s eyes are no longer focused on the smartphone display, the front camera recognizes this and immediately pauses the video automatically. Once the…

Polaroid Manufacturing Android Based Camera
Popphoto.com a magazine that I have written for in the past, picked up on a rumor that Polaroid are manufacturing a new ILC running Android. In fact, they have gone so far as to confirm it with Polaroid, this is very unusual, this kind of thing is usually shrouded in Non Disclosure Agreements (NDA’s) but perhaps due the fact they intend to announce it at CES next month, things are a little more ‘relaxed’. Known at the moment at least as the Polaroid IM1836, is an Android 4 powered camera with interchangeable lenses, 18 MP, 3.5 inch touchscreen, pop up flash, wi-fi, HDMI, panoramic and blink detection features and possibly…

Mixed Reactions To The New Will.i.am i.am ‘Genius iPhone 14 Megapixel Camera’
On November 24, 2012 we mentioned that Will.i.am perhaps best known as one of the founding members of The Black Eyed Peas was about to release an accessory to enable an iPhone 4/5 to shoot 14 megapixel images. Well, this product has now launched in London and the range starts at $315/£199 and will initially only be available at London’s Selfridges from December 6, 2012. It comes with an integrated keyboard and the cost of the development was according to Will.i.am himself ‘the cost of two DJ gigs’. The product literally ‘fits over your iPhone unit so you only need to carry one device’, he went on to say. There…
