The generosity of art displayed in this weeks Mobile Photography & Art Showcase embraces each viewer inside our cultured artform. Within each artists work there is a freedom of obligations, freedom of inevitability, each work has been constructed to elicit entirely what was desired. The liberation that comes from creating fast and loose whilst being observed is perfectly canny. In the UK we have a literary award of which, it is of no honour to win. It is the Bad Sex Award and each year since 1993 an author is honoured who has, in the opinion of the judges, produced an outstandingly bad scene of sexual description, in an otherwise good novel. The results of which, I always find interesting to read, notwithstanding the reviews too. Is it wrong to find it laudable? I share a very beauiful bed with a very attractive and intelligent person who manages to stimulate me in every possible way but not even the lure of that deliciousness combined with comforting luscious silk sheets could seduce me this morning. As I created this weeks Mobile Photography and Art Flickr Group showcase, Orfeo et Eurydice: Melodie for Piano Solo performed by James Rhodes played and soothed me, this beautiful rendition will likely reduce you to tears. Rhodes is a highly accomplished concert pianist and a man whose personal memoir is so raw and harrowing that the court of appeal initially prevented him from publishing it, the ban was lifted and his book ‘Instrumental: A Memoir of Madness, Medication and Music‘ which includes a Spotify playlist, is a heartbreakingly difficult read.
