Through A New Lens: Works from the World-Wide Mobile Photography Movement Exhibition

2021-12-13 / Comments Off on Through A New Lens: Works from the World-Wide Mobile Photography Movement Exhibition

I am so proud to announce the Perspective Gallery is to present “Through A New Lens”, an exhibition by seven internationally-recognized iPhoneographers. The exhibit, curated by my dear friend and museum professional, art historian and photographer, Gina Costa, demonstrates a broad range of styles and approaches used by mobile technology. Visitors to the exhibition will observe the incredible span of possibilities mobile technology permits. The evolution of mobile photography can be understood as the logical next step of developments in the history of photography. Technically, what preceded the mobile photography movement led naturally to its adoption,…

      2021-11-28 / 1 Comment

What is remarkable about your vision, as mobile artists, is that it remains intensely human rooted in common experience, replete with doubt, frustration but also conjoined with belief and certainity. Characteristics demonstrative of our obsession with this new medium. As your journey through this weeks showcase to the centre of the lyrical and artist narrative, your destination alludes to the ultimate climax and is swiftly tempered by the safety of its harbour. This showcase is at the frontier of the world of mobile photography and art. Enjoy! If you would like your work to be considered for entry into our weekly Mobile Photography and Art Flickr showcase, please submit it to…

We’re Donating 25% of Net Proceeds to Charity – Strut Safe

2021-11-26 / Comments Off on We’re Donating 25% of Net Proceeds to Charity – Strut Safe

Today, until midnight (GMT) Tuesday 30th November 2021 we are donating 25% of all net proceeds from our online gallery to Strut Safe, a charity dedicated to getting women home safely across the UK. It is an organisation founded by Rachel Chung and Alice Jackson following the murder of Sarah Everard in South London in March 2021. Now with over fifty volunteers across the UK, Strut Safe is able to offer free walks home in Edinburgh, as well as a free phone service for the entire UK. There is much work to be done to dismantle systemic violence against women and other marginalised groups. Strut Safe is an initiative to…

Happy Thanksgiving! We’re reviving and in some cases refreshing our mobile photography and art thanksgiving post of previous years because it’s as relevant today as it was then. Although we do not officially observe Thanksgiving here in the UK, for me personally, it offers another excuse to send love and gratitude to our beautiful community. Without your art, your thoughts and your daily leaps of courageous self-expression, TheAppWhisperer would not exist. In this article mobile artists have expressed their thoughts in words and images representing what mobile photography and art means to them and considered what they’re thankful for in relation to it.  Some have mentioned our wonderful community, some…

Within this interview, we ask highly successful mobile artists twenty questions about their backgrounds, their work, social media, how Covid-19 has influenced their creative life and so much more… Today, we are proud to feature award winning artist, Sarah Bichachi from Connecticut, United States. Bichachi’s art underlines the concept of the impermanence of life – one of her main sources of inspiration. The processes of genesis, metamorphosis and inevitable disappearance, as well as the symbolic correspondences between earth and body, are her starting points. Bichachi’s photographs offer great poetic beauty brought together in a superbly elegant…
