Russia To Ban iPhone and iPad From 2015
According to a report in the International Business Times, Russia is set to ban the iPhone and iPad from 2015 ‘as a result of a new law that forces online services operating in the country to store their data locally’. This law doesn’t just affect any device that uses Apple’s US based iCloud servers but also potentially Facebook and Twitter too. A report from Progorod claims,"the internet ombudsman Dmitry Marinichev believes that Apple will not have enough time to move all the data storage to Russian territory by 2015". Moody Downgrades Nokia’s Credit Rating To One Notch Above ‘Junk’ Status
Reuters are reporting today that Moody’s have cut their rating on Nokia to just one notch above ‘junk’ today, April 16, 2012. This sent Nokia into a bit of a frenzy trying to defend its cash position and cost-cutting plans. Immediately they issued a press statement, "Nokia will continue to increase its focus on lowering the company’s cost structure, improving cash flow and maintaining a strong financial position’. Nokia CFO Timo Ihamuotila said in an official statement after Moody’s reduced their long term credit rating to Baa3. New $99 iPhone 4 – Really?
Reuters are reporting that ‘Asian suppliers to Apple Inc have begun manufacturing a lower-priced version of its hot-selling iPhone 4 with a smaller 8 gigabyte flash drive, according to two people with knowledge of the matter’. Apple have been asked to comment and not surprisingly they have declined, as too have Samsung. Several analysts believe that a cheaper 8GB iPhone 4 could boost Apple’s sales in emerging markets. There have been other rumors in recent weeks that Apple are planning on discontinuing the iPhone 3GS, so if that’s true then this cheaper iPhone 4 could really clean up. Steve Wozniak Segway and Apple extraordinaire was interviewed by Reuters in Brighton, England this week. Wozniak was attending the SQLbits conference to present awards to winners as his position as Chief Scientist for storage company Fusion-io affords.
