2019-11-15 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography Intimate Interview with Kaoru Shintaku from Singapore

Our eighty sixth interview in this series of intimate interviews is with talented photographer and artist Kaoru Shintaku from Singapore. You may know her from her popular Instagram account entitled @patragraphy. Shintaku is Japanese born and grew up in Tokyo but currently she lives in Singapore. This interview is inspiring for many reasons, her imagery which includes florals, cityscapes and landscapes are as precise as her language, as she utilises the use of colour and tone in tandem. Shintaku maintains her sang-froid throughout whilst simultaneously charming us as she hews closely to her thoughts and feelings. Enjoy! To read the other published interviews in this series including artists, Adria Ellis,…

Mobile Photography Intimate Interview with Juta Jazz from Cyprus

2019-11-07 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography Intimate Interview with Juta Jazz from Cyprus

Our eighty third interview in this series of mobile photography intimate interviews is with talented mobile photographer and artist Juta Jazz from Cyprus, originally from Lithuania. When I asked her within this interview ‘what drives you on?‘, she replied ‘Something I can’t reach…‘ – this response touched me because isn’t that essentially what drives us all on?  I believe, in many ways, we can all answer this question in the same way but what is it, that we cannot reach? 2019-10-27 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr/Instagram Group Showcase – 27 October 2019

I spend everyday thinking creatively, as indeed all our readers do and I would go so far as to say, everyone does in somepart. What does surprise me is when writers bandy around the phrase ‘creative industries‘. I can honestly say, hand on heart, I don’t know of any ‘uncreative industries‘. Creativity is the most powerful competitive advantage any business can possess. New ideas, fresh thinking are the fizz companies to make their business’s pop. There’s this overriding notion that creative artists are cut from a different cloth, this needs to be debunked. Young children overspill with ideas, they cannot hold back. Her body is “like a car that you park in the projects, you don’t leave anything valuable in it ’cause you can’t keep it from being broken into,” a frustrating but all to realistic quote from ‘Baise-moi’ (1993) a novel by Virginie Despentes. The quote calmly describes her friend who was gang-raped, she reasons, ‘at least they left her alive‘. The book itself is about two young women on a revenge sex and killing spree following the gang rape. The author, Despentes, herself was gang raped at 17 and had a knife in her pocket at the time but was too terrified to use it. She writes in her memoir…

2019-06-22 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography & Art – Tickle Your Fancy #64

Welcome back to our sixty fourth post in our Tickle Your Fancy section. Tickle Your Fancy includes a round-up of between ten to twelve key links to articles from around TheAppWhisperer over the past few two weeks, ones you may, by chance, have missed. Just to explain the title for this section Tickle Your Fancy is an English idiom and essentially means that something appeals to you and perhaps stimulates your imagination in an enthusiastic way, we felt it would make a great title for this new section of the site. Artists cited include: Susan Maxwell Schmidt, Clarisse Debout, Oola Cristina, Deborah Field, Deborah McMillion, Yariv Weinberg, Karen Axelrad, Kathy Clay,…
