‘A Picture’s Worth‘… is where we ask mobile photographers that have created powerful mobile photography/art to explain the processes they took. We also ask these incredible artists to explain their emotions and how the image projects those feelings. We have published a few A Picture’s Worth articles recently, if you have missed those – please go here. In this A Picture’s Worth today we asked Stefania Piccioni to tell us more about her image. Visualising Mobile Art Interview with Armineh Hovanesian
I am so excited about this new Interview section within TheAppWhisperer. A picture speaks a thousand words, so says the English language idiom and as this is a website by and for visual artists, we felt this section was long overdue. We asked a series of mobile photographers and artists ten questions, in text format and we asked them to respond in their very best way, visually and in their own style of photography/art, the results are unique and incredibly exciting. To read our previously published interviews, with Deborah McMillion, M. Cecilia Sao Thiago, Christine Sobczak and Liliana Schwitter, please go here. Today we are publishing our fifth visual interview,…

Learn to Make AI ART Less Artificial
Learn to Make AI ART Less Artificial Our creative world has just imploded. This Thursday at 11 am (east) I am sharing many ideas and workflows that I have been exploring to control the fallout with “image to image” prompting. I am trying to circumvent some common arguments against AI Art creation by controlling the evolution of an image with a more hands-on workflow. If you are just curious or just starting with AI or even if you have worked with it for a while I am confident you will pick up some useful information. The free 1-hour zoom session will be helpful for designers, illustrators and photographers. I am…

URBAN ECHOES: The Art of iPhone Street Photography
URBAN ECHOES: The Art of iPhone Street Photography For generations, street photography has captivated audiences with its raw and unscripted documentation of candid moments in urban settings. The genre has undergone substantial creative evolution over time, yet the core objectives remain: to capture the essence of daily life through a lens of authenticity and an imaginative eye. Inspired by the mid-twentieth-century masters of street photography, I set out to create images with my smartphone that reflect my interpretation of the urban landscape. I am a long-time user and champion of iPhone photography. For more than a decade the device has been a constant companion for me, capturing life’s moments and helping me to…

Nick Knight – ‘Roses From My Garden’ iPhone Photography Exhibition
Yesterday, I had the greatest pleasure to attend world-renowned fashion photographer Nick Knight’s still life exhibition Roses from my Garden at Waddesdon Manor (a Rothschild House and Gardens), in partnership with Albion Barn and Michael Hue-Williams. The show itself takes place in the Coach House Gallery, a short walk on from the Manor House within the gorgeous gardens. The exhibition is comprised of 18 images, the exquisite skills of Knight’s iPhone photography is of course of primary interest to us. Richmond based Knight, started photographing roses that he had picked from the garden of the small house that belonged to his parents. Working with his iPhone with natural light, gave him…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr/Instagram Group Showcase 23 May 2021
“If you’re paying attention and making your own life as beautiful and rich and fun as it can be, you might just attract someone who’s doing the same thing, you can give up on tracking someone down with your butterfly net.” Words by Anne Lamott one of my favourite writers. Lamott has published 18 memoirs and novels, many about being a recovering alcoholic, single mother, perpetual worrier and late-in-life churchgoer. I’ve read many of her books, you knew that was coming, right? I read incessantly, there’s only one thing that frustrates me about reading and that is that I can’t write at the same time. One of the many things…

Mobile Photography & Art – Flickr/Instagram Group Showcase 25 April 2021
“There are so many things that art can’t do. It can’t bring the dead back to life, it can’t mend arguments between friends, or cure AIDS, or halt the pace of climate change. All the same, it does have some extraordinary functions, some odd negotiating ability between people, including people who never meet and yet who infiltrate and enrich each other’s lives. It does have a capacity to create intimacy; it does have a way of healing wounds, and better yet of making it apparent that not all wounds need healing and not all scars are ugly”. A quote from ‘The Lonely City: Adventures in the Art of Being Alone’…
