Sometimes when curating and putting together our mobile photography and art showcase, as I work long hours, tiredness creeps in and it’s at those times when semi consciousness takes over and the real creativity happens. I am not one to read lonely hearts ad’s per se, however I do love history and found myself pre Valentine’s wondering when the first lonely hearts ad may have been written. I think I found it, in 1695 a ‘gentleman about 30 years of age’ placed at least one of the first recorded lonely hearts ad’s and he was seeking ‘some good young gentlewoman that has a Fortune of 3000 l. or thereabout’. £3k is equal to around £260k ($340k) today.
