UK Government Refused Steve Jobs A Knighthood
Several tech savvy Americans have received Knighthoods in the past, including Bill Gates and Steven Spielberg but apparently Jobs’ refused to toe the party line and speak at a Labour party conference and the Knighthood offer was withdrawn by Gordon Brown, The Telegraph states today. Jobs was put forward for the honor by the MP for services to technology. The Knighthood proposal was in the final stages of approval when Downing Street blocked it after Steve Jobs refused to speak at a Labour Party Conference. Apple iPad 2 Launch Event Set For 03/02/11
All Things Digital have just reporetd that Apple will hold its eagerly awaited product event on March 2. We are expecting them to announce the iPad 2 at this time. Presumably, although unconfirmed, it will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco but we don’t know yet whether Steve Jobs will be there – poor guy, let’s hope so.

Apple® today announced a new subscription service available to all publishers of content-based apps on the App Store℠, including magazines, newspapers, video, music, etc. This is the same innovative digital subscription billing service that Apple recently launched with News Corp.’s “The Daily” app. Subscriptions purchased from within the App Store will be sold using the same App Store billing system that has been used to buy billions of apps and In-App Purchases. Customer Sold Fake iPad In Walmart – They Refuse Refund
This story coming hot out of 9to5mac, states that a guy from Altanta, Georgia bought what he thought to be an Apple iPad from his local Walmart store. When he got home and opened it up, it turned out to be a fake iPad prop, with an identical shell to the real thing but hollow inside. It seems that another previous ‘customer’ returned their Apple iPad for a refund, but returned this fake model. Therefore, getting a refund and keeping the real device. The Daily iPad Newspaper Launch Event February 2nd, 2011
With the excitement building News Corporation and Apple have set the launch date for The Daily to February 2nd, 2011. As you can see from the invitation below, Rupert Murdoch will be there along with Apple’s Eddy Cue, he’s stepping in for Steve Jobs, as we know is on medical leave. The event will start at 11:00 am EST at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum at 1071 Fifth Avenue. The Daily will cost $0.99 per week, it’s going to be interesting how this one pans out and whether consumers are prepared to pay for exclusive journalism.

Foxconn Says ‘No Need For Overreaction’ To Steve Jobs’ Medical Leave
Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry Co), the largest manufacturer of electronics and computer components worldwide with up to 450,000 workers and of course manufacturers of products from Apple, Amazon, Cisco, HP, Dell, Nintendo, Nokia, Microsoft, Sony and Sony Ericsson have spoken out in relation to the controversy surrounding Jobs’ medical absence. In a report from DigiTimes, Foxconn acknowledged that Steve Jobs’ had taken medical leave and expressed that it was not the first time and since Apple, their major client, is ‘well organized’ they will not experience any operating issues simply ‘because of one person’s absence.’

The Board of Directors have granted medical leave so he can focus on his health. He will continue to be CEO and involved in major strategic decisions for Apple.
