    Apple’s Chinese Glass Temple

2010-09-15 / Comments Off on Apple’s Chinese Glass Temple

Considering the iPad has not officially arrived in China yet, Apple have wasted no time putting in place twelve rounded glass panels standing over 12.5 meter (41 feet) to create the cylindrical dome. The Apple logo is suspended above a glass stairway that corkscrews into the underground retail space. Is this the most high-tech Apple store to date? As Apple embarks on a major China retail expansion, not least of the reasons for it to source locally is the nation’s tax of up to 30% on certain glass imports. And of course, China already has a role making its iPhone and iPad. Spectacular The glassmaking industry in China is no…

Now You Can Read iPad Magazines For Free

2010-09-15 / Comments Off on Now You Can Read iPad Magazines For Free

That is correct if you are already a subscriber to the print version of course. People magazine is leading the way with Time, Sports Illustrated and Fortune expected to follow within the next 30 days. Previously it was necessary to pay up to $5.99 for each iPad version of these magazines even if you were already a subscriber to the printed version. But now that Apple has made it possible for one title, other magazines will want to follow suit. It’s not clear what took so long. Publishers who were encouraged to build iPad apps by Steve Jobs himself say were ready from the start to make them free to…

Now We Know Why The App Store Went Down Last Night…

2010-09-15 / Comments Off on Now We Know Why The App Store Went Down Last Night…

Last night the app store was down for approximately 3 hours, nothing too unusual about that. Keeps us all on our toes with what Apple might be announcing next – except following this downtime, no one could see what had actually changed – until now… Comparisons Apple have improved the functionality of the app store. Now there is a new option allowing customers to quickly bring up specs on the hardware, included software and technical specifications for each system. Compare Macs also gives users a look at each Mac’s environmental report, which has become a very important buying factor for many users in recent years. This is a great step…

Apple And AT&T Remove ‘no commitment’ From iPhone 4 New Orders

2010-09-15 / Comments Off on Apple And AT&T Remove ‘no commitment’ From iPhone 4 New Orders

Not so long ago it was possible to purchase an iPhone 4 without a commitment with AT&T for both the 16GB and 32GB versions. Since the jailbreaking/unlocking saga, now it seems that Apple and AT&T have removed that option from their websites – weird? At launch, AT&T said that they’d sell iPhone 4s without contract for $599 and $699 for the 16 and 32 GB versions. Defintely something strange going on – anyone got any ideas?

Exclusive Interview With Photographer’s Contract Maker iPhone Developer, Michael Shiffler

2010-09-15 / Comments Off on Exclusive Interview With Photographer’s Contract Maker iPhone Developer, Michael Shiffler

Photographer’s Contract Maker app is a great app. Once you’ve installed this app onto your iPhone or iPad you can officially go paperless, reduce clutter, and streamline your contract organization. Read this exclusive interview with the developer right now… The Beginning Can you tell our readers how your app was originally thought of, what were your thoughts behind the marketplace, specifically? Being a photographer, I grew frustrated with having to constantly carry contracts and model releases with me in my bag. Even signed contracts became an issue because they had to be organized and filed. There were occasions when I didn’t have a contract or release, to have to try…

Camera+ Gets Stripped From The App Store

2010-09-15 / Comments Off on Camera+ Gets Stripped From The App Store

As we and many others reported yesterday, Camera+ violated Apple’s developer agreement by ‘hiding’ an update to their hugely popular app after Apple had already rejected it. Apple initially rejected the update to Camera+ as it felt it would bring about ‘user confusion’. The idea was to allow users to use one of the iPhone’s volume buttons as a mechanical shutter button while using Camera+. However, tap tap tap, the developers behind Camera+ then gave instructions via Twitter on a ‘workaround’ allowing users to use the volume button as the shutter. Obviously this was picked up by a lot of blogs and consquently got back to Apple who promptly kicked…

Apple Allowing Developers To Offer 50% Bulk Educational Discount

2010-09-15 / Comments Off on Apple Allowing Developers To Offer 50% Bulk Educational Discount

Well, Apple are dishing out the favors to app developers today, earlier they adapted the way iAd works, allowing developers to sell their apps directly from within an iAd and now they have updated their developer app sale agreement, giving developers the factility to offer their apps with 50% discount to educational institutions. The idea behind it is to allow educational institutions to preload the same apps across numerous iOS devices to be distributed to students and faculty, while giving developers an incentive to offer their apps at a discount.   The discount only applies in bulk downloads of twenty or more apps purchased at once. If you’re a developer,…
