Exclusive Interview Questions: Ballast Lane Applications, LLC for Master Pieces: The Curator’s Game

2011-04-18 / Comments Off on Exclusive Interview Questions: Ballast Lane Applications, LLC for Master Pieces: The Curator’s Game

We love Master Pieces: The Curator’s Game iOS app here at theappwhisperer.com. The games within the app are based on over 350 details from 54 masterpieces. They challenge you to identify the artist of a detail with help from clues and the ability to view the full work. There are three ways to play. The first two do not require any background in art history while the third is for those who know (or, think they know!) all about the classics. We are currently reviewing this app but in the meantime we wanted to interview the developer, Larry Ehrhardt to find out how this app came to be materialised and…

    Apple Releases iOS 4.3.2

2011-04-15 / Comments Off on Apple Releases iOS 4.3.2

Apple today released iOS 4.3.2 that includes bug fixes and security updates. The update applies to the GSM iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1 and iPad 2, and the 3rd and 4th-generation iPod touches. The bug fixes are said to include a fix for a bug that caused video to go blank or become frozen during FaceTime calls and another bug that kept some international iPad users with 3G models from connecting to local cellular networks. iOS 4.3.2 does not apply to the Verizon iPhone 4, which has its own update available today as well. iOS 4.2.7 for the CDMA iPhone 4 includes bug fixes and security updates. The iPhone Tab Bar – Lessons From Reality

2011-04-13 / Comments Off on The iPhone Tab Bar – Lessons From Reality

Over the last couple of years, the iPhone has greatly popularized the tab bar navigational model for mobile handsets. Apple has put together a design rationale for the tab bar in their Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) along with lots and lots of other information — they do however leave some question unanswered. Having worked with interaction and graphical design for iPhone applications during the last couple of years I’ve managed to pick up some lessons the hard way, and in this post I would like to share my thoughts on a couple of do’s and don’ts. So says Petter Silfver within his blog on Significant Pixels where he compares different…

2011-04-11 / Comments Off on iPad And Thunderbolt Support Coming To Apple’s Final Cut Pro Update

Apple is expected to announce the new Final Cut Pro update tomorrow, April 12 and the excitment and rumors are building up consdierably. The latest and one of the most interesting to emerge comes from Mark Raudonis, Head of Post Production at Bunim/Murray Productions, who was given an advance look at the anticipated software update. Raudonis’s comments were collected by FilmMaker Magazine, and were discovered by MacRumors. Speaking at the PreNAB Editors’ Lounge 2011, Raudonis recalled a famous quote from hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, in which he said he would "skate to where the puck will be" — a comment also cited in the past by Apple Chief Executive Steve…

    Return Of The Woz?

2011-04-09 / Comments Off on Return Of The Woz?

Steve Wozniak Segway and Apple extraordinaire was interviewed by Reuters in Brighton, England this week. Wozniak was attending the SQLbits conference to present awards to winners as his position as Chief Scientist for storage company Fusion-io affords. He was quoted as saying ‘I’d consider it, yeah’, when asked if he would consider returning to an active role within Apple if asked, according to AppleInsider. "There’s just an awful lot I know about Apple products and competing products that has some relevance, some meaning," he went on to say. "My thinking is that Apple could be more open and not lose sales," said Wozniak, while adding, "I’m sure they’re making the…

    Apple Chastises Best Buy

2011-04-08 / Comments Off on Apple Chastises Best Buy

It appears that Best Buy will not be the best place for you to buy your Apple products in the future, if the latest rumors are to be believed. MacRumors are reporting that Apple are not pleased, in any shape or form at the way Best Buy have been selling their products. It seems that Best Buy were limiting the quantity of iPad 2’s for sale as they had reached their sales quota for the day and actually were telling customers they were out of stock. This type of sales practice is definitely a big no no if you carry Apple stock and it seems that Best Buy has had…
