Mobile Photography / Art Tutorial – ‘Assembly’ – Time To Shape Up

    2015-10-13 / 2 Comments

We are delighted to publish Jerry Jobe’s latest mobile photography/art tutorial for our reading and viewing pleasure. This week Jobe takes a look at the new app ‘Assembly’ by Pixite LLC. Read his thoughts as he puts it through its paces (foreword by Joanne Carter). Assembly currently retails for $1.99/£1.49 and you can download it here. “Often, in photography and art education, one of the first things emphasized is that we should observe and recognize what we see. In sketching, you are taught to reproduce certain shapes, and then recognize how those shapes are inherent in everything we see. A framework of these shapes is the “bones” of a person,…

We are delighted to publish Jerry Jobe’s latest mobile photography/art tutorial for our reading and viewing pleasure. Colorburn retails for $0.99/£0.79 and you can download it here “Should you worry if an app is released and seven months later they change the name? Normally, I’d be a little leery that perhaps the developers wanted to remove all traces of a bad first attempt. But in the case of today’s app, Colorburn by Wanman, Inc., I think it…

Mobile Photography/Art Tutorial – Pixelmator for iPhone – TheAppWhisperer

2015-06-03 / Comments Off on Mobile Photography/Art Tutorial – Pixelmator for iPhone – TheAppWhisperer

We are delighted to publish Jerry Jobe’s latest mobile photography/art tutorial for our pleasure. This week Jobe takes a look Pixelmator, now a universal app. Read his thoughts as he puts this new iPhone version through it’s paces (foreword by Joanne Carter). Pixelmator retails for $4.99/£3.99 and you can download it here. “Last November I started a five-part series on an app new to mobile devices (see here), Pixelmator. It’s a very powerful program, but that power was limited to iPad users. That is, up until last week, when Pixelmator for iPhone was released. It makes Pixelmator a universal app, and therefore does not incur any addition cost for those…

Mobile Art App Tutorial – APPart – ‘Glitché’ by Bobbi McMurry

    2015-06-03 / 2 Comments

Last week Bobbi (our editor for this APPart column) published a brief overview of Glitché app, if you missed that please go here. She also promised a more in-depth tutorial and today has delivered. Please enjoy this (foreword by Joanne Carter). “If you’ve ever looked at my artwork, you know that I create with extensive layering. While I’m not a fan of “push-button” art, i.e.: apply an effect and your done, I do like “specialty apps” to create images that can be layered into my work. For me, Glitché is just that kind of app. Glitché caught my eye because of it’s ability to create a sort of wireframe overlay…

    Mobile Photography App Tutorial – Oggl – A Love/Hate Relationship – TheAppWhisperer

    2015-04-08 / 3 Comments

Back in November of 2012 I wrote my first article on iPhoneography apps. It was an attempt to cover Hipstamatic. I chose Hipstamatic because the app sparked my interest in iPhone photography. The fact that I was getting wonderful results, blindly, was fascinating. You couldn’t see, through the viewfinder, what the resulting image would look like. I found myself taking many photos just to see what they would look like. That is both a blessing and a curse of Hipstamatic. It was terrific for me, who was just starting out and had a number of friends asking how I got those results. For those who were more studied in their…

iOS Photography App Tutorial with ‘Monokrom’ – Instantaneous Monochrome by Jerry Jobe

    2015-03-26 / 1 Comment

We are delighted to publish this very interesting tutorial with universal photography app Monokrom which retails for $0.99/£0.79 and you can pick it up here.  Over to you Jerry. (Foreword by Joanne Carter). “Every so often, an app will come along that does not dazzle with the effects it brings to your images, but instead with an entirely new way to control the app. There are many apps available to change your image to monochrome, whether that is straight black and white or a tinted monochrome, and I’ve covered a few of them. Monokrom (a universal app by Darren Richards), however, does not use a raft of sliders to fine-tune…
